Already owning three bright young goaltenders in Semyon Varlamov, Michal Neuvirth and Braden Holtby, the Capitals traded a fifth-rounder (No. 146 overall) and a fourth-rounder (116th) to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 112th pick overall. Washington used that choice to grab German goaltender Philippe Grubauer, who is playing with Windsor of the OHL. Grubauer won each of his last 12 games in 2009-10, including Memorial Cup action. He was ranked 64th overall by Red Line Report and was projected as a 2nd rounder by the ISS.
